The island gets a new look
The 2023 promise is kept, and the island invites you aboard.
When we opened this website, we also promised it would eventually stop looking like an average documentation website. That was in 2023. We are TeX people, and slow and steady is how we compile. But the promise is now kept.
The website wears the island's own visual identity: its colors, its typography, and, if you look closely, even its weather. There is a small island on the front page, complete with a swaying palm, rolling waves, and a ship that never quite arrives. We like to think it is carrying your next favorite TeX tool.
Under the hood, things are calmer too: the site builds on a current version of Zola, DevLab supplies the shared layout, and site-owned styles and templates carry the island’s design. Our build checks internal links before publishing. These words are set in the fonts of the island’s identity, one of the small pleasures of writing them.
All of this is the work of the team, in the best island tradition: a few residents, the occasional quarrel with CSS, and a shared weakness for waves.
If you enjoy our tools and libraries, consider this an invitation. The island has open positions for anyone who wants to help: with the website, with our projects, or with ideas of your own for the TeX ecosystem. Find us in our Matrix room; the harbor is open.
